 The minor 7th chord with a flatted 5th (mi7(b5)) changes the perfect 5th of a minor 7th chord to be a diminished 5th (flatted 5th). Example: the B mi7(b5) chord symbol specifies a chord whose root is B which uses uses notes drawn from the D (minor 3rd), F(diminished 5th) and A (minor 7th) pitch classes.
