Hi Grahame,

Deep River is a spiritual and appears in a number of collections of spirituals, church and American folk music. I did my Google search for Deep River+spiritual+chords. Harry T. Burleigh is credited with one of the early popular arrangements of the song.

Here's a MIDI arrangement of the tune that I found online: http://patriot.net/~bmcgin/deeprvra.mid. Found it on this site that perpetually plays "Abide With Me": http://patriot.net/~bmcgin/christmusic.html

Also found this one, http://www.cyberhymnal.org/htm/d/e/deeprivr.htm, whose MIDI arrangement is clean enough to easily identify the chords used in the accompaniment.
